Please see below for NRVAD’s studio policies:
- Class Placement: NRV Academy of Dance instructors retain the right to place any student in technically and developmentally appropriate classes. Our students’ safety and happiness is our number one concern, so we will always do our best to maintain safe, yet challenging classes. That being said, if your child is unhappy with the rate at which the class is progressing, please come talk to us! Placement can be reviewed on an individual basis. *Note that it is possible to advance classes in the fall semester, but a student may not do so after January.
- Enrollment: The non-refundable registration fee and first month’s tuition are due at the time of enrollment. Payments may be made via cash, credit card or check.
- Tuition: Tuition is non-refundable and due by the first class of every month. If your tuition is paid after the 15th of the month, a $15 late fee will be added to your payment due. Payments may be made via cash, credit or check. Please ask about our discount for families with multiple dancers! There will also be a $35 returned check fee.
In an effort to reduce financial burdens at the end of the year, we have three payments for recital costumes. Payments are due November 15th and January 15th. The remaining balance is due in March. The November payment is refundable until December 31st; however, January and March payments are non-refundable.
- Lobby: The lobby is closed during class to limit distractions to the dancers, control traffic in the studio, and ensure the safety of the dancers.
- Communication: Each month, NRVAD will send a newsletter detailing everything relevant that is going on with the studio. This communication will be emailed to all registered email addresses, posted inside the studio lobby, and put on the internal dance family Facebook group. It is the responsibility of the dance families to read this newsletter to stay up to date on the necessary information.
- Schedule/Inclement Weather: NRV Academy of Dance reserves the right to change or cancel classes, but will only do so if absolutely necessary. In the event of inclement weather, we will make a determination about cancelling classes while giving as much notice as possible. Please note that we do not automatically close when Montgomery County schools are closed. Because of our community reach, we typically use New River Community College as a benchmark with our decision making, but again, do not automatically close because they do. Our goal will be to hold classes whenever possible, but safety should be the top priority for all of us. Please use your best judgement on whether the road conditions / general weather conditions are safe for your travel. If a change or emergency cancellation does occur, it will be sent out via email, as well as on our Facebook page and on the studio’s outgoing phone message.
- Make Up Classes: If a student misses class they are welcome to attend one session of any comparable class as a make-up. If you are going to miss a class, please try to call or email the studio and let us know. Students are expected to attend 90% of their classes in order to participate in the recital, and this will be determined on a case by case basis. Please note that there will be no refunds or tuition prorating offered in the instance of a missed class. If an individual class is cancelled due to inclement weather more than once in the same month, a makeup class may be scheduled if teacher availability and studio time allow.
